Initially, our mission was to break down the walled gardens separating company teams from the wide world outside and forge a flexible workflow for these more responsive teams to do better formal front-end-of-innovation work faster. So we did two things:
- We built TrendTrail, a culture scanning process. With TrendTrail, we maintain a proprietary radar of trends, emerging trends, and provocative products, services and behaviors that are reshaping the world day by day.
- Combining our experience of literally decades of NPD, early-stage innovation and in-company engineering, we wrote FuseTrail, a 150-page illustrated manual with metrics. FuseTrail covers all the key DIY steps for a 6-weekly FEI cycle. (If you need a flexible process to implement quickly, FuseTrail is for you.)
FuseTrail builds on the Osborn-Parnes framework of Creative Problem Solving (CPS) which has underpinned commercial creativity for decades, even before "design thinking" came into vogue. (If you like human-centred design, you'll love CPS.) One of KILN's founders is an international expert in creativity and creative process.
The longer we shepherd the tools we made into the world, the more we see how widely they apply to group conversations and creative work.
