I had the pleasure of interacting with Bob Townley FRSA on LinkedIn last week. Bob jumped into an RSA discussion where I had shared my Innovation Excellence piece, Uncomfortable. Bob mentioned his doctoral research into how change is experienced emotionally by people within smaller businesses and organisations.
Not surprisingly, Bob is looking to understand how the ways change is managed may influence the outcomes. I liked the fact that Bob's research is open to the idea that people and wider organisations may gain from change; but also that emotional loss is real. So I decided to help him recruit research sites.
To complete his doctoral studies at the University of Leicester, School of Management, Bob is currently looking for 2-3 organisations to interview. Please get in touch if:
- Your business, social enterprise or organisation in the voluntary sector has 5-50 staff
- Is located in the UK
- is changing and evolving, either through a managed process or by growing, diversifying or responding to changes in the sector or marketplace
- 3-5 of your people could be interviewed onsite sometime Jan - Jun 2016
There is a 1-page overview here that describes Bob's project. Please can you reach out to him directly if you're able to participate bob dot townley at blueyonder dot co dot uk.
