Seeking Trained Brains for A Problem-Framing Session in Toronto

Kate Hammer

WHAT: 6-HOUR WORKSHOP FOR AN MBA CHALLENGE FEATURES PROBLEM-FRAMING & IDEATION USING KILN'S IDEAKEG

Kate Hammer, co-creator of IdeaKeg and co-founder of KILN, is coming to the Rotman School of Management, home of Design Works and the Creative Destruction Lab, to lead a group of students into blue sky thinking about a homegrown, successful Toronto-based manufacturer employing nearly 100 people and recently celebrating 30 years in the domestic textile manufacturing industry The ultimate goal is that our combined efforts help the incoming CEO craft a bright - and ambitious - future that may well be in an adjacent market space.

For trained brains, the session offers the opportunity to practice problem-framing and ideation with a pioneering new tool, applied to a meaningful real-world challenge. The new tool, IdeaKeg, features in the recent book, Trend Driven Innovation, intro by Alex Osterwalder, published by Wiley.

"Our time with Kate was inspiring" - Ryan Biggs, Innovation Design Engineer, Vans

"Kate is a phenomenal catalyst" - former Barclays Bank Director of Customer Innovation Lee Sankey

WHERE: 105 ST GEORGE STREET, TORONTO, ON M5S 3E6

WHEN: SUNDAY 7 FEB 2016, 9AM-3PM (LUNCH PROVIDED)

WHY: CREATIVE THINKERS, WE NEED YOU!

The MBA challenge group is 5, plus the challenge owner. Ideally, we'll be a group of 10-12.

We'll be inviting those interested to take a brief online profiling tool, to help us understand your preferences for different aspects of problem-solving. We'll use the insights to form a strong group of diverse thinkers.

WHO WE SEEK:

Individuals who feel comfortable generating a raft of questions in a situation of high ambiguity or uncertainty; people who love asking "why" and come up with idea after idea. Ideally trained in the Creative Problem Solving Process or experienced in deliberate creativity practices, you'll need to feel comfortable joining in as a "trained brain" with a core group who have worked together for several weeks.
