Facilitation is a skill you should have in-house if you want a continuous innovation culture. To register or make inquiries re course content and associated costs, click here.
The focus of the course is to learn – and practice -- a comprehensive framework for innovation facilitation. This is grounded in the formal framework of Creative Problem Solving (CPS) and includes best practices, and planning for ideation.
A very comprehensive list of facilitaiton tools and techniques for creative problem solving, ideation, and concept development will be covered. Don’t brainstorm like it’s 1949, learn the modern tools (Brain-writing, Challenge Mapping, and story-based concept writing, among others). The tools will enable facilitators to better scaffold creative thinking, including the use of trend-objects to do concept collisions.
For CPS, Gregg will be using state-of-the-art materials KILN developed in summer 2015 for the 5-day Human Processes and Deliberate Creativity Course we ran at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, with support from The Kern Family Foundation. KILN's materials provide participants with unique tools tailored for innovation including: scaffolding, concept blends/mash-ups, and Future Tense storytelling.
The course has been designed to enable you to:
- Handle incremental innovation in-house by using your own internal facilitators, saving time
- Decrease reliance on external vendors for facilitation and grow your own innovation capacity
- Develop your own Creative Problem Solving capabilities, and structure activities that enable your colleagues to learn CPS by doing
“Above all else, the greatest value of the KILN workshop is that it instilled in me a creative problem-solving mindset and gave me tools and techniques to rely on. Now, no matter what the challenge or crisis, I find myself calmly viewing it as just a problem to be solved, invoking “how might we…?” and confidently leading my team through the process to find the best solution."
